For a year, the directors Christiane Schmidt and Didier Guillain followed the life of a Romanian Roma village in the Carpathians with their camera. The Lingurar family, made up of four generations, is at the center of their village community. The daily life of the adults is determined by the need to constantly find new sources of survival. The children must also participate in the effort. They know that their village is poor. “The Roma never have any money,” a little girl laments, while some older villagers even wish to return to the days of the dictator Ceausescu. Back then, industrial jobs in the nearby city provided a livelihood. On the main path you walk on sand. From the hill you can hear the whole village. In summer you can cool off in the river. Anamaria is looking for her love. For Aronela, her faith is important. At the time of Ceaușescu, Elena had work in the tractor factory. Aron is a representative of the Partida Romilor. He feels responsible for his family and the village. Beniamin and Simon take us to the forest. 'The forest is like the mountains, can you see that,' Iosif says.
